Ever since I first encountered the original manga in high school, The Ghost in the Shell has been my
creative touchstone. This work began with the manga by Shirow-sensei and has evolved through the shared time
and passion of countless creators and fans.
Producing a new anime within such a legendary history brought immense pressure, but our entire staff has poured their heart and soul into making it a piece that as many people as possible can enjoy.
To the fans of the original manga, the fans of the previous anime, and the new fans of the future, it is my sincere hope that this work resonates with each of you in its own unique way.

The works of Shirow Masamune possess a profound mystery; their form seems to shift depending on the era in
which they are read. In a sense, they act as a mirror, reflecting the reader's own knowledge. As our
collective understanding of humanity evolves, so too does our interpretation of his work. This inherent
power remains undiminished, even well into the 21st century.
I wish I could go back and tell my middle-school self, who struggled to grasp what was being depicted in Shirow’s worlds, exactly what to research. Yet, I cannot say that I, as I am now, fully comprehend it either; there is always a lingering sense of dissonance in the image reflected in that mirror.
It is a sensation akin to the unease one feels when confronting nature itself. Perhaps it is a slight crack or a distortion in the glass that serves as the key to a new interpretation, allowing a fresh form to emerge.

Ever since the 1995 feature film, The Ghost in the Shell has been adapted into anime numerous times, earning
the enduring love of fans over the years. I myself am one of those who was captivated by it. It would make
me incredibly happy if this brand new Ghost in the Shell could be cherished for the next ten, twenty, or
thirty years, just like the masterpieces that came before it.
With that sentiment in mind, I am supporting this new series from a visual perspective. I never dreamed that I would one day participate in the production of The Ghost in the Shell, but seeing this as a stroke of 'connection' (En), I have chosen to "fuse" with this world. I am deeply grateful to those who gave me this opportunity.
I hope that long-time fans and those who have never heard of The Ghost in the Shell alike will enjoy the show. Please look forward to it, we hope it exceeds your expectations.

Among the many adaptations of this series, this brand new Ghost in the Shell seeks to return to the very
"breath" of the original manga, carefully gathering and preserving its essential charms. Its atmosphere,
simultaneously futuristic yet retro, composed yet fanciful, and intellectual yet pop, feels remarkably fresh
in today's world.
Perhaps, because reality has finally caught up to certain aspects of the work, these past imaginings have taken on a new sense of realism, allowing the lightheartedness and playfulness of the original manga to stand out even more vividly. In our background art, we have focused on the coexistence of inorganic coldness and familiar warmth, working as a united team to support the unique depth of this world.
We truly hope you enjoy immersing yourself in it.

I still vividly remember the shock I felt when I first encountered the original manga as a student, the
sheer density of the frames, the meticulousness of the setting, and a color palette unlike anything I had
ever seen. Even after entering the anime industry, The Ghost in the Shell continued to inspire and influence
me through its various incarnations, from the feature films to the series, each maintaining an exceptional
level of quality while taking a unique approach distinct from the manga.
To be involved in a work that is both my creative origin and a guiding light is a stroke of immense good fortune. It is with deep gratitude, joy, and profound respect that I deliver this new series to everyone who loves The Ghost in the Shell.
For the fans of Shirow Masamune’s original manga (myself included), there are many scenes that will truly resonate. I sincerely hope you enjoy the experience.

Ever since I watched The Ghost in the Shell anime as a child, the Major has been my idol. I didn’t grow up
to be a brilliant, cool woman like her, but I did become an anime Compositing Director. Being able to
contribute to this title as a member of the staff fills me with immense joy.
As I work on the visual compositing with the original manga by my side, I often find myself wondering, "Am I getting even a little closer to Shirow-sensei?" or "Do I truly understand The Ghost in the Shell?"
There are so many different fans, those who have followed the story since the original manga, those who came to love it through the anime or games, and those who are about to experience it for the very first time. I have poured my heart and soul into this project so that all of you can enjoy it.
Please enjoy this Reiwa-era "return to origins"—the "Mokochan" version of The Ghost in the Shell!

I feel truly honored to be part of The Ghost in the Shell production. When reading the storyboards, I often
find that I can’t fully grasp everything in just one go; I frequently find myself returning to the original
manga, feeling the immense depth of the world every single day.
However, I believe that having so much "room to think" is exactly what makes this work so fascinating. One of its greatest charms is the experience of comparing notes with friends after watching it and making new discoveries together. I hope you will enjoy the entire experience, including those moments of reflection, right through to the very end.

It is a profound honor to be involved in the historic world of The Ghost in the Shell. Now, with AI becoming
a major topic of conversation worldwide, I feel in real-time that reality has finally caught up to this
work. At the same time, I am once again struck by the sheer depth and gravity of its world-building.
While holding deep respect for the previous adaptations and the incredible staff who built them, our sound team is working as one to tackle the creation of a soundscape unique to this new series.
I hope this work becomes a wonderful 'connection' (En) for all of you.

- In middle school, I happened to open a magazine to a color splash page featuring Motoko Kusanagi. That was the moment I first encountered The Ghost in the Shell. The style and color were unlike anything else, and the name 'Shirow Masamune' was magnetic. It was a total shock. Having experienced various iterations of Ghost in the Shell since then, I am truly honored to join this long history as a creator. My concept for the music of this 'origin and source' is 'Public Security Section 9 of Sound.' I have scouted my talented friends to dive into this project I’ve long awaited. I hope we all find a 'connection' (En) through this work.

- Since being captivated by Innocence in a theater as a middle schooler, I have followed everything related to The Ghost in the Shell. Its influence is deeply etched into my own creations and philosophy. I could hardly believe I would be responsible for the music of such a project... but I approached it with my whole soul, determined to handle this precious world with care. I followed the whispers of my Ghost!

- The moment I realized I had 'missed' the Ghost in the Shell phenomenon, I immediately ordered every original volume in English and Japanese. I dove into composing at my studio in the Boston suburbs, where countless motifs were already preparing for the journey. We did additional recordings in Nashville with my close allies, tailored the work in a hotel in Shanghai, and finally, in Tokyo, those motifs finished their long voyage, evolving from mere 'passages' into a 'suite.' It was a journey without hesitation. These tracks are a map of my passion and impulse.

With the new Ghost in the Shell animation staying true to the original work, I designed the logo as a
personal tribute to Masamune Shiro—filled with my respect and admiration.
While staying true to the core concept of Ghost in the Shell, I also brought in my own aesthetic sense of style. I think this shows how even a familiar logo can be reimagined and brought to life in a new way with the right concept and ideas.

Considering the shift in production staff, one could even consider this the first installment of a second generation. The original manga is quite old, so I ask for your understanding on that point (sorry!). That said, I sincerely hope this will once again be an enjoyable visual experience in some form.
