To be participating in the latest installment of this franchise—which has been animated so many times before,
each version brimming with its own distinct charm—was like a bolt from the blue for someone like me who has
watched the series... anyway, I just remember being utterly astonished.
Once my participation was
decided, recording began without much delay, and I feel like almost all of my time since then has been
completely occupied by how to face Togusa—though for this particular work, I dare say I want to affectionately
call him Togusa-kun.
It’s not that Togusa-kun lacks experience, but within the scope of Section 9’s
missions, he still has a certain greenness to him, so he is rich in emotion and will likely feel like a slightly
different type compared to his past image. I want to portray him as a character who can truly share the same
perspective as the viewers.
I believe this work has become something that can be thoroughly enjoyed
not only by those touching this franchise for the very first time, but also by those who have loved the series
deeply over the years.
It contains not only powerful visuals and intense action, but also echoes
countless themes and questions that strike a chord with our modern world, so it would bring me great joy if you
could savor every single layer of it. Please look forward to new THE GHOST IN THE SHELL.
